Author Charles Marshall gives us The Seven Powers of Success, a self-help book which encourages the reader to "unlock your strengths" and "unleash your dreams." The book is well organized into the promised seven sections. You must first lock into the author's definition of success which is "the process of fulfilling one's potential." If you define success as something other than that, this may not be the book for you. One of the components (Choice) involves not blaming others and not feeling entitled to get something without putting in the appropriate effort. Vision requires that you can discern what you want for yourself while Mind relates to creative thinking. The author calls this Option X. Once you have set your goals, you must be prepared to take action and the means of doing so is contained within the book. Recognizing the power of failure is actually a motivator to the attainment of success and the author delineates how failures can result in the learning of a process of success.
The organization of the book is a highlight as it can be used as a reference and as a means of going back and regrouping when failure occurs. I liked the various sections, which seemed progressive and filled with practical advice. The final power is explained as discipline and the reader can easily ascertain that it may be one of the most difficult steps. Belief in yourself and others is explained as a primary support throughout the process of attaining specified goals. Although I did not find anything truly earth-shattering in this book, it is a well-written book filled with practical advice for those who need a place to start.
