Even very young children can learn to be kind. C.M. Harris's What If We Were All Kind! is a delightful introduction to kindness for little ones. The rhyming text shares what the world would look like if everyone chose to be kind instead of angry or rude. Being kind can begin at home but shouldn't stay there. The whole world needs to have people that are friendly and help one another. Kindness doesn't involve having to do something grand. A simple gesture will brighten someone's day. There are several suggestions for children to try in the text and illustrations. Kindness isn't limited to people; animals must be treated with care too. A list of discussion questions is included to help kids think of ways to be kind.

What If We Were All Kind! will be an excellent resource for preschool and kindergarten educators. Teaching kids about kindness will benefit them in their home life, school life, and beyond. C. M. Harris shows how simple acts like hugging, listening, and sharing can shower people with love. Their actions can encourage others to act with kindness as well. The illustrations by Vitor Lopes show a diverse range of children. They all appear in settings familiar to kids such as a park, school, and even a blanket fort.
