The Naked Leftist is billed as a conservatively minded guidebook by author Randy D Schiller, aiming to convey the conservative perspective on understanding those with liberal and socialist political views. Self-confessed as politically incorrect, the book offers sentiments solely from a conservative perspective with a view to strengthening that perspective by examining left-winged political motivations under a certain lens. The overall viewpoint suggests that left-wing thinkers appear to be caught in their own gravity trap of ideals which prevents them from accessing what conservatives perceive to be the reality of the world. Randy D Schiller goes on to discuss how North American politics are affected by this particular approach to political thinking, and in doing so he questions the motivation of left-wing thinkers and their tactics in political work.
I am neither a socialist nor a leftist, but I am certain that for entrenched conservatives, dare I say the pro-Trump administration fans, this volume will certainly strengthen their belief system and perpetuate a state of total disagreement between parties. Randy D Schiller writes with compelling prose that seeks to persuade his audience and, though his claims certainly have value from his personal political standpoint, as a reader I would have preferred a more hopeful and balanced message for the state of the world than the argument which is provided. That said, The Naked Leftist will certainly fulfill the needs of its intended audience, and is a well-structured and well-edited volume.
