Eli Celata delivers another dazzling read, ramping up the action, danger, magic, and complications as Jon faces the fallout from the tragic turn of events in the previous book. Everything that's been building up throughout the previous books in the series have caught up to Jon, weighing him down and causing him to struggle underneath the pressure of school, life, and magic. Celata puts a unique twist on the myth of the Lady in White with a fresh approach which maintains the tale's eerie and tragic tone. Every part of Jon's life starts to feel strained, from his friends to his major to his family problems. He's finally learned the truth about his father and his connection to Jordan but knowing the truth doesn't lift this weight he's been carrying around. Instead it adds more complications to his life.
Celata focuses on the various relationships in Jon's life, exploring how these weigh on him and where he's currently at in his life. Along with his friendships, his relationship with Jordan has only become more complicated as Jon struggles to accept that his mentor is actually his uncle and his only real link to finding his father. This adds an emotional upheaval for Jon as a vital part of his journey because this is a connection he's been looking for his whole life. Celata brilliantly weaves layers into Jon's life, balancing his magical life and his personal life which often crash into each other. Lady in White is packed with plenty of dangerous and action-packed magical moments with supernatural twists which further open up this secret society while revealing surprises and mysteries.
