In Nowĺhere is Somewhere by Mindy Hall, Louisa lives in California with her daughter, Emily. One day, she gets a call from Texas, which is her original home, to execute her sister's will. She doesn’t expect the whole ordeal to take a lot of time, and even Emily agrees to go with her. Emily also wants to use the opportunity to look for her college friend who hasn’t been responding to her letters. Once in Texas, she realizes her friend’s marriage to Dwayne didn't go very well due to his cruelty, which led to her friend running away. Is she still alive? Meanwhile, Louisa is trying to solve issues involving Atie’s estate. How will things turn out when they uncover the involvement of the Ku Klux Klan in the affairs of the small town and the mysterious murders that follow?

Nowhere is Somewhere by Mindy Hall is wonderfully written with an engaging writing style and well-crafted dialogue that brings the characters and the story to life. I loved the suspense, which kept me looking forward to subsequent chapters. The plot flows seamlessly, leaving no room for confusion for the reader. Mindy also ensured that all events and places were vividly captured, which helped create a mental picture of what was happening. I also loved how thought-provoking the book was on issues such as the effects of war, as we see in the character of Henry, who fought in the Gulf War. Other societal issues of importance covered include racism and discrimination. The reader will also appreciate the easy-to-understand language used, which makes the work accessible to all audiences.
