In Franky the Friendly Flamingo by Wanda Luthman, Franky is a very sociable flamingo. He has friends wherever he goes. He loves all of his friends. Except, one day, a bird was bad and angry. The bad bird was mean to a little bird and made the little bird cry. Franky went to the rescue. He cuddled the tiny bird and comforted it, with the moral of the story being we may not always agree but love is better than hate. The big bird apologized.
This story shows how sometimes good can come out of a bad situation. The pace is perfect for a child to understand. This book illustrates a valuable lesson and teaches children of all ages. There are times when we get irritated or frustrated but need to control our emotions. The characters are all feathered friends in one way or another. They are all believable as birds can communicate with each other just like people can communicate with one another. Again, the book has a very good message in that love can triumph over hate. Often, verbal arguments lead to physical arguments. Franky was kind enough to stop the situation from getting worse. Franky showed love to the little bird. Franky the Friendly Flamingo by Wanda Luthman has superb illustrations that are colorful and bright, making the book appealing to young readers.
