Destiny (Forever and Always Book One) by Cindy Springsteen is about young love. Cassidy is shy but incurably curious about life. When Danny appears, she is smitten. She considers him to be her soulmate. Her one and only true love. However, fate has different plans for her young life. Their on again, off again relationship takes its toll on her, emotionally and physically. It seems to be so easy for Danny to discard her yet retain control of her. Why can she not feel the same? How can something so beautiful become so painful. Why is love so hard? Why is she not enough for Danny? The ups and downs of a young life and an infatuation with a headstrong, popular young man, prove very challenging for young Cassidy. But she doggedly perseveres in trying to hold onto Danny. She grows in maturity and wisdom as time goes on, with Danny not seemingly aware of the hold he has on this young lady.

The story takes the reader on a frustrating love journey from a teenage perspective. Teenage years can be hard enough without the entanglement of a love relationship. To determine if it is ‘puppy love’ or the real thing demands reading the story entirely, and forming your own opinion. I found this to be an interesting read. I wanted to jump in and shake the - at times - screamingly annoying Cassidy as her naiveté and loyalty threatened to destroy not only her, but me too. It might be considered a must-read for young teens and adults, if only to decide what you don’t want to endure.
