Turkey Ranch Road Rage by Paula Boyd is the third book in the Jolene Jackson Mystery Series. Relaxing back home in Colorado after two uneventful previous trips to Kickapoo, Texas, Jolene receives a frantic call from Sheriff and Sweetheart Jerry Don Parker. Her mother is back in jail and refusing to be bonded out and he needs Jolene back in Texas, quickly. Seems there are two things she just cannot escape from, and that’s Jerry Don and her mother Lucille. With a new RV park proposed off of Turkey Road and the Little Ranch, it comes right up to the back of Lucille’s property and the war is on. Lucille, along with her two friends, are going to take them all on, and Lucille only knows how to use one tactic, her trusty 9 millimeter glock. Between the AAC animal rights group, a group of over the hill hippies going to save the horny toad, Jolene is in for a wild ride. Between being kidnapped, family skeletons popping out of the closet, her daughter showing up in Texas at the same time, how can she escape it all?
I have enjoyed reading the adventures of Jolene and her mother Lucille. If there is a scrap to be found anywhere you can bet your bottom dollar that Lucille is going to be right in the middle of it somewhere. With the addition of some new characters along with the regulars from the first two books one cannot help but feel like they are with family. As she works to find out who’s after money and also has a deadly case of Road Rage, we stop and think, will she ever move back to Texas and marry Jerry Don? Will she never be able to let go of her Texas roots? The answer to that mystery may lie in the fourth in the series, “Killer Moves.”
