Ricci Lane was born in Houston, Texas. As a young child, he was reared in Los Angeles, California before returning to Houston, Texas. Ricci attended the Houston Public School system, graduating from high school with honors. He later attended and graduated from the University of Texas At Austin where he received a Bachelor of Arts Degree, majoring in Government with a minor of History. Ricci received Texas Education Agency certification in the field of Social Sciences including History and Government. Ricci spent several years teaching students in his hometown, Houston, Texas before recently retirng from public education.
Ricci participated in football, tennis, chess club, mixed chorus, honor society, poetry, play writing, and student council while attending high school. As a teacher, he also coached basketball and later sponsored a History Club, providing disadvantaged students the opportunity of field trips and learning about various other cultures.
Ricci enjoys reading, writing, billiards, basketball, football, tennis, playing cards, traveling and attending social events.

Tribulation Point by Ricci Lane reminds us that, ”Sometimes Just Making It Through Another Day Isn't Always Easy.” This is the story of Precious Evergreen, named for the orphanage where she was raised, and her son James Anthony Blackmon. Abandoned at birth on the steps of the Evergreen Orphanage by her mother who was assaulted by a white man, she became known as Half & Half by the other children. As we follow her life through school, her achievements, her first love and heartbreak, up to her eventual marriage and the birth of her son, we see her through all of her misfortunes as she overcomes her tribulations. Her son, growing up in a time where they had to ride in the back of the bus and suffer from name calling, had his own tribulations to contend with, but he excelled like his mother. When he finally reveals a long-kept secret that had plagued him since his childhood, he feels relieved as he also wonders whether to continue on with the relationship of a long time friend who is now in serious trouble.
I have to say that when I started reading this book, it was impossible to put down. The pain and trials these two individuals went through will grab the reader. The meat of the story is so true to life, so thought-provoking. How does one deal with the tribulations, the adversity in life? Some people will enjoy this book; others will say it’s not for them. There is some coarse language throughout the book and occasional sexual situations, but for this novel, if the author had left it out, it would be like having cake without the frosting. It’s how one African American wrote what goes on in the lives of his own people. This would make an excellent movie.
