Edmond Raines rushes to the aid of his friends Cameron and Sara Stone when they discover the members of a human trafficking ring have kidnapped their child. In attempting to negotiate for the safe release of their son, the group’s mysterious leader makes a problematic demand of the couple. He wants their help in disrupting a business deal, failing that their child will die. Only after a series of unusual events do they discover that the man they have been negotiating with is El Lobo, an old rival of Raines with whom he shares some unsavory history. Will Raines give in to the urge to settle old scores? Only time will tell in Thomas LeBrun’s No Stone Left Unturned.
No Stone Left Unturned maintains the high-octane mix of drama and martial arts with a solid dose of tactical gun-wielding battles for which LeBrun’s novels are known. The action is nonstop, the character development is solid, and the origin stories are neat and easy for readers to relate to, especially those unfamiliar with the series. The banter oscillates between drama, highlighting the strong bonds between Raines and his team, to a hard-edged tone, teasing El Lobo’s determination to put down Raines once and for all. LeBrun’s storytelling style makes El Lobo’s faction far superior to Raines in strategy and human resources, creating an antagonist worthy of our hero’s talents and immersing readers in the narrative as they guess who will come out on top. LeBrun brings all these elements together in fast pacing that action genre fans will enjoy just as much as suspense enthusiasts. No Stone Unturned is an exciting page-turner you will not be in a hurry to put down.
