Five years ago Allie Simpson disappeared. Ben Collins went on a crusade of journalistic fervor trying to unearth the truth but instead of a happy ending, his misguided enthusiasm led to an avoidable tragedy. Seeking penance, Ben left his old life with its assurances of fame and fortune to start over anew but fate is not done with him as he is once again thrust into the spotlight when young Sam Lincoln disappears under eerily similar circumstances. Ben is forced to bring closure to a family in agony but to do that he must first make peace with the demons that haunt him before it is too late. The clock is ticking in The Lamb by Tom O’Brennan.
Justice comes full circle in a spectacular story about redemption by Tom O’ Brennan. His cast of characters is well put together as their origin stories do an excellent job of connecting the dots between the parts of this story that are not so obvious. Ben’s struggle with his inner demons and his nightmares set the tone for a story that is emotionally charged and dripping with suspense. I am particularly impressed with the way O’Brennan crafts his story as he subtly encourages the reader to become immersed in the finer details of an engaging storyline as the only way they will discover the truth in a novel that is magnificently layered. The Lamb is an amazing piece of work on a completely different level from its peers in the genre.
