The Cove (The Cove Trilogy #1) by Malcolm Richards is a skillful and dark murder-mystery. Carrie's son disappeared seven years ago while at the beach and she feared him dead. Noah Pengelly, a young child from Devil’s Cove, has disappeared. A body is washed up on the beach and everyone believes that it is Noah’s body. But it isn’t. It's Cal, Carrie's son, and he is very much alive. Cal is suffering from deep trauma and refuses to speak, but Carrie still wants him home. She has a new family now, a husband and a daughter, a sister that Cal has never met. Everyone wants to know where Cal has been and if he knows anything about Noah’s disappearance, but Cal won’t tell them. A picture drawn at school sets off a chain of events that will have devastating consequences, uncovering a terror that lies in the heart of Devil's Cove.
Wow! Just wow! The Cove by Malcolm Richards has to be one of the most gripping stories I have ever read. A real page-turner, this is a story that is full of suspense, every page urging you on to the next, leading you deep into a dark and terrifying world. This is not a story that you will want to put down; I couldn’t, I read it from cover to cover in almost one sitting. Mr. Richards has woven a terrifying tale that gripped me from the first page, a tale that is expertly written with an incredibly clever plot and characters that you are both dawn to and eager to pull away from but can’t. This is book one of a trilogy and I can’t wait for the rest of the series. Fantastic story by a very clever author, and highly recommended for fans of suspense and a murder mystery with a difference.
