Ten Seconds to Die is a pulsating political thriller by Marshall Mattingly. Deputy Bob Denton takes his job seriously. When a hiker is found dead in the mountains near Dahlonega, he investigates the case, despite his sheriff declaring it to be an accident. With journalist Marlane Somer in tow, Bob follows the clues, only to end up having to investigate two more murders in quick succession. Bob is framed for murder and becomes a fugitive from the law. As Bob and Marlane fight for survival, they uncover an underlying Nazi conspiracy involving the local pharmaceutical plant that has ominous implications for the country's leadership. With their lives in danger, will Bob and Marlane be able to prevent a diabolical scheme from overthrowing the American government?
There is not a single moment in the book that allows your attention to waver. Ten Seconds to Die is a fast-paced thriller filled with political intrigue, suspense, mystery, and action that will have you chewing on your nails until the last page. Marshall Mattingly has the reader's attention from the outset with a gripping plot full of pulse-pounding scenes and twists and turns that keep you guessing. Apart from Bob and Marlane, the narrative has secondary characters that steal the show, together with a few subplots that come together at the end like the perfect jigsaw puzzle. I thoroughly enjoyed the book from start to finish, and I recommend it highly to fans of political thrillers.
