Skip, Hop Dragon's On Top! (Silly Dragon Series) (Volume 1) is written by Margaret M. Curley. This is a wonderful educational children's pictorial book introducing young readers to new words, rhyming and repetition, as well as a variety of beautifully illustrated animals. Come join the Silly Dragon as he thinks he can join the smaller animals in a game of pile up. He just wants to be friends with them all, no matter what their size. Will the Dragon be able to join in their game even though he is larger in size than all of the other animals? Let's find out.
Young children often respond well to animals, rhyming, and repetitive interactive word structure. The author conquers all three aspects with brilliance by providing the young reader with a fun, rhyming story game in which the reader has to guess which animal they think will be in the top spot or the bottom spot when they turn the page. Children are then gaining memory, motor, and interactive skills as they point to the animal on each page. With all the different animals on the pages, a child will be able to match the animal name with its picture. The author has also provided a vocabulary section for those young readers who are just starting to read. A child at the beginning reading level can then brush up on their ability to spot repetitive or familiar words within the story. Skip, Hop Dragon's on Top is a delightful, fun and educational book for parents, teachers, and young children to enjoy.
