Native Nights Roxanna is a short romance fiction reminiscent of the smaller and shorter Harlequin or Silhouette Series -- a mini-read that gives you a burst of romance without spending days reading a long, drawn out romance. Roxanna O’Donnell is a widow in the rough and untamed Oklahoma Indian territory, determined to make it alone in her adopted land and to make her home prosper.
One night, an army of fierce Indians raid her land; they kill her beloved dogs, burn down her home, and try to kill her. Roxanna is able to escape, but not before she has sustained serious injuries. Luckily, another Indian family takes her in, a gentle Cherokee Ela and her brother, Sahen. Sahen hates everything white and wants her out, but Ela demands that she stays. Sahen becomes captivated and seduced by Roxanna’s strength and beauty. Soon he is fighting with himself to hold onto his hate, but it’s a battle that he is destined to lose.
Author A.S. Johnson writes an enjoyable short romance story with interesting, likable characters and a heated passion that is essential to any romance tale. She has the potential to write longer, more detailed romance books as her short story included all the elements of a good romance. I would have liked it if the story was a little longer, but sometimes a short read gives the reader a brief escape they enjoy.
