God, Science, and a Really Dumb Experiment by Sasha DeVore is a fun story about an experiment that doesn’t go quite as planned. Alex is on summer break and all she wants is a respite from the kids she teaches. What she doesn’t expect is to come face-to-face with a gigantic ant. A science experiment has gone terribly wrong. God has been brought to Earth and almost the entire population of the planet is in a kind of coma. But that’s not the worst of it. A unicorn being pursued by hunters, paper planes with minds of their own, and much more, all appear and now God is refusing to leave. It’s down to Alex and some new friends to put things right. But they didn’t bank on a pair of demons getting involved and throwing a really big spanner into the works – can things ever be normal again? Can Alex and her friends solve this puzzle and return the world to how it should be? And how will Alex face her own personal demons along the way?
God, Science, and a Really Dumb Experiment by Sasha DeVore is a humorous look at religion and science. It’s written in the first person in a way that lets you picture everything you read – even the unicorn. The characters are amazing, all so different, and entirely relatable, each with their own unique and sometimes quirky personalities. This book starts as it means to go on; the first page will draw you right in and you won’t stop until you reach the end. Ms. Devore has a vivid imagination and a wonderful way of putting that imagination onto paper in a unique story that might leave you with more questions than answers. This is a really fun read and a wonderful way to leave the real world behind for a few hours.
