Cat Treadgold’s Mister Movie Star is a swoon-worthy, slow-burn romance with charm, chemistry, and a behind-the-scenes peek at life in Hollywood’s glittering, yet often isolating, spotlight. Rose Poppins is a smart and talented chef seeking a fresh start after a traumatic experience in New York’s fine dining scene. She takes a job as a personal chef for movie star George Reed Masters. Sparks fly between them, but Rose is unlike the women George knows; she is shy and grounded. For Rose, falling for George will only leave her broken and unemployed. To complicate things, George’s ex-wife, the graceful and talented Helena, would do anything to get him back, including dangling a coveted film role he can’t turn down easily.
Mister Movie Star is perfect for fans of romantic comedies who love vulnerable characters, slow-burn, and plenty of movie and book references. This book is more than a Cinderella romance between a chef and a celebrity; it is about two wounded souls scared to get attached. George is not your average heart-throb. With a playboy past, at heart, he’s just a lonely, self-aware hero caught behind the glitz and glam of Hollywood. Rose is a refreshingly strong heroine. Though described as shy, she’s anything but weak. Even when surrounded by glamorous actresses, she never brings herself down. Cat Treadgold writes with an inside knowledge of the film industry—the paparazzi, parties, and movie politics. The novel opens with George on a strict diet for a film role, showing the mental and emotional toll behind the accolades. Mister Movie Star is a reminder that sometimes the best stories happen behind the scenes.
