Mighty Mommies and Their Amazing Jobs: A STEM Career Book for Kids (STEMpowering STEM Books for Children) is an educational picture book for children written by Donald Jacobsen and illustrated by Graham Evans. Moms have the best job of all in being moms, but each of these moms also has a great STEM career. Jacobsen introduces kids to 18 different career options that are in the science and technology sectors. Each mom’s profession is described, giving the responsibilities and challenges involved, with an illustrated picture showing that mom at work. Jacobsen also teaches kids the alphabet with his alliterative selections of names and professions. He concludes the book with a challenge to kids to think about the amazing job they’ll want to do when they grow up.
Donald Jacobsen’s educational picture book for children, Mighty Mommies and Their Amazing Jobs, teaches kids that the stars are literally the limit for their futures. This book answers the question of what a kid wants to do when they grow up in an informative and affirmative way. I loved the diversity of the moms, and appreciated the careful attention the illustrator took in depicting the moms at work. Evans’ illustrations are boldly and brightly colored and work so well with the text. Jacobsen’s book is a grand selection for story time, but it’s also quite suitable for new readers to try on their own. Mighty Mommies and Their Amazing Jobs: A STEM Career Book for Kids is most highly recommended.
