Caught Between Two Worlds: Chronicle of Dragondom & Beyond Series by Lesley M. Laws follows Aisha, a normal Earthling who unknowingly becomes the center of a cosmic struggle. A secret council, aware of her hidden powers, decides to activate her abilities to prevent the dark forces of the Old Empire from exploiting her. Transported through a mysterious portal, Aisha enters Arionel, a secret world where magic and ancient beings exist. There, she undergoes intense training with elves, dragons, and other powerful beings, learning to harness her extraordinary powers. As she uncovers her true identity, Aisha faces missions across time and space, combating the forces that seek to enslave all life, including humanity. Struggling with the weight of her destiny, Aisha must balance her training with compassion, knowing the fate of the universe—and Earth—rests on her shoulders.

“You are the Keys to the success of the Prophecy. To the safe return of the planet and mankind to where and what they were always supposed to be...” Lesley M. Laws' Caught Between Two Worlds stands out for its deep exploration of identity and transformation, particularly through its protagonist, Aisha. Her journey of self-discovery is just wonderful, driven by the unfolding mysteries surrounding her unique abilities. One scene where Aisha's control over the elements—fire, water, and air—serves as a powerful metaphor for her growing inner strength, with her ability to walk on water being a striking representation of her growing mastery over her environment. The novel also excels in its great integration of mythology, particularly through the use of Futhark runes, which add a layer of historical realism that feels familiar within the story's other mystical elements. Laws’ writing is tight and focused, and this is definitely a series that I would love to follow and encourage others to do so as well. Very highly recommended.
