Marie de Saint-Сhéron: Shadows from the Past is an historical romance novel written by Writer's House Lebenswelle. Mercedes and Edmond Dantes had finally been reunited after their twenty long years apart. Edmond had wreaked vengeance upon the malefactors who had conspired to have him falsely accused and imprisoned at Chateau d’If on the day of their nuptials all those years ago. The two lovers were now, finally, going to complete the ceremony that had been so horribly interrupted -- in the same church. Their cook was busily preparing a wedding feast as the two took their vows and their gathered friends and guests watched. The ceremony was suddenly interrupted by an officious-looking man accompanied by four armed gendarmes. He read from a scroll detailing the alleged crimes Edmond Dantes had committed and ordered him to return to Chateau d’If to await his new trial and sentencing. As they marched Dantes away, a young blonde woman watched from within the safety of her carriage. Who was she, and had she set all of this in motion? And would Edmund ever get to see his Mercedes again?
Writer's House Lebenswelle’s historical romance novel, Marie de Saint-Сhéron: Shadows from the Past, continues Alexander Dumas’ enthralling classic, The Count of Monte Cristo, as Edmond Dantes is unjustly accused and imprisoned once again. I was curious to see how the authors would fare in writing a sequel to one of my favorite classic works, and was agreeably pleased to find that they recreated both the atmosphere of the time and the intricate political machinations of the original. The authors’ characters are well-defined and credible, especially the evil and vindictive Marie, and the story is well-plotted and enthralling. Marie de Saint-Сhéron: Shadows from the Past is recommended.
