Dark Money and Private Spies is a memoir by Everett Stern. During his time at HSBC, Stern discovered that the bank deliberately failed to maintain anti-money laundering policies. Stern knew he could not stand by and therefore he alerted the U.S. authorities of his findings in 2011. The investigation resulted in HSBC being issued an unprecedented $1.9 billion fine. Unfortunately, his pursuit of justice came at a high personal cost. In this book, Stern finally shares his complete experience with the corruption, espionage, and injustice that plague today's financial and legal systems. He details the precursors to his defining moment and the explosive aftermath. Moreover, from his current position as a Senate candidate and Intelligence Director of a private intelligence agency, Tactical Rabbit, Stern offers unique insight into this booming sector. Part true-crime thriller and part condemnation of America's failed systems, it's a sobering tale of a whistleblower's fight for justice.
In Dark Money and Private Spies, the fight for justice and truth is absolute, and authenticity jumps off the pages. The book is inspiring, detailing the events based on facts chronologically. Moreover, the author's self-development and decision to choose justice over his success and career growth seem selfless. It is hard to interest readers in memoirs, but Stern has succeeded in doing that very well. The inclusion of suspense and adrenaline-filled action is done so flawlessly that it has the full capability of impressing readers. The authenticity of Everett Stern's storytelling keeps readers on their toes until the end through detailed investigations of the ongoing situations. The book has a fantastic series of events, including inspiring and corrupting events. I recommend the author's desire to bring real-life situations to readers and make them look into the world of investigations. In addition, the thrilling experiences are unforgettable. I would recommend Dark Money and Private Spies by Everett Stern to anyone who wants to read true crime and political stories.
