In Chocovela’s ABC of Sports by Zalina Jani and Sameer Jani, a young crocodile named Chocovela gets bored and spends time playing with his smartphone. Then he remembers his mother telling him that when he is bored, he should think of all the different sports and games he could play. He looks at his shelves of sports equipment, and can’t decide what to play. So he decides to spend a day playing a sport for every letter in the alphabet. From American Football to Zip Lining, Chocovela demonstrates a wide variety of games and activities, and with each, the crocodile identifies a positive character trait in his life.
Chocovela’s ABC of Sports by Zalina Jani and Sameer Jani is a delightful picture book that works well as a read-aloud or for young readers as a read-to-me book. Some of the character traits contain words that are a bit challenging, like negotiator, optimistic, and zealous, but all of them are desirable qualities and young readers can discover new sports like elephant polo, nine-ball, and paragliding. The authors are a mom and son who pool their talents to create relatable kid-friendly educational books, and this one is no different, teaching youngsters their ABCs while encouraging investigation into sports and good character. Combined with beautiful and engaging full-color pictures on every page, this book makes a worthy addition to the Chocovela series and an educational aid for any early reader's classroom. Perfect for young lovers of sports, early readers, and any family wanting to instill positive character traits in the next generation.
