Do you like stories about vampires and werewolves? If the answer's yes, grab a copy of Dan O'Mahony's Welcome to Harmony. Life hasn't been the same for twelve-year-old Dillon Howell after his parents learned about the Change, which turns him into a werewolf. Since his family moved from LA to the small town of Harmony, Dillon regularly sneaks into the nearby forest at night to avoid anyone who might come across him during the Change. However, he soon discovers that the town is full of other supernaturals. Apart from the school bullies, Julian and Patrick, who are vampires, Dillon learns that the Sullivan twins are also werewolves. He trains in the ways of the pack and seeks to control the Change. But when his friend Miles's life is in danger, Dillon must embrace his inner wolf.
Packed with action, mystery, and intrigue, Welcome to Harmony is a captivating adventure tale for teenagers and young adult supernatural fantasy readers. Author Dan O'Mahony has built an immersive fantasy world in the town of Harmony. There are supernatural beings of many kinds, from werewolves and vampires to trolls and faeries. The other highlight of the book for me was the characters. O'Mahony has crafted some truly layered characters with different personalities. Each main character has their own agency. I loved the dynamic between Dillon and his friends and found Julian's and Miles's complex story arcs particularly engrossing. The plot is fast-paced and features unexpected twists and turns along the way. The ending also hints at a sequel. Overall, it's a treat for young fans.
