Jessica, Adam, and Sam are excited because they are going to visit their uncle and aunt’s farm in the opening scene of Xalien the Purple Alien: Xalien Visits the Farm by Michelle Path. They take their toy, Xalien the Purple Alien, along with them to the farm. Xalien is also excited about going on a new adventure with the children. Once they reach the farm, Xalien has fun trying out milking the cow, collecting eggs, catching fish, exploring, and discovering new things. Xalien thinks eggs are funny and says that on his planet the creatures hatch from hard eggs.
The story introduces young readers to farm life in a fun way, thereby instilling in them a love for animals, farm life, and the environment. The illustrations are bright, vivid, and lively, and they make the scenes, story, and concept palpable to young readers. The inclusion of the imaginary character, Xalien, in the story makes it interesting and gives a magical feel to the plot. The story is good for bedtime story-telling at home, and can be used for read aloud sessions in classrooms and school libraries. Young readers also get a taste of farm life and what it is like to live on the farm, along with animals, the chores they have to do while being on the farm, and many other interesting things. Children love adventure and this book is filled with fun, adventure, and animals. They also learn more about life in the country and living on a farm.
