Little boys and little girls need lots of love. By showing them love, we are teaching them how to love. By starting and ending each day with love, we are showing them how to love. In everything we do each day, we are showing them how to love. But only if we do everything with love. Imagine what a wonderful world we’d have if everyone spent their days doing what they had to do with love. And imagine what a world we’d create if every child learned the power of love at a young age and shared it with all their friends and the world around them. Think of how much good these little gems full of love and potential could share in the world as they grow up.
Kirsten Brewer Gant’s picture book story, With Love, is a charming story written for little boys. Like Robert Munsch’s classic picture book, Love You Forever, this book expands on the power of love between a parent and a child (particularly, in this case, as well as in Munsch’s story, on a little boy). The simple language and the compassion with which she presents her little story has a simple, but profound message to share with all of us and she shares it “with love”, which we must do as well. The illustrations are delightful and help move the story along. Personally, I would love to see a companion book for little girls or the inclusion of girls in this story. However, the message is clear: we must learn to do everything “with love”.
