Welcome To The Family by Nancy S. Reece is a suspenseful thriller about a man trying to save his wife from her dysfunctional family. Sean Ferguson and his wife, Cassie, have an unusual marriage arrangement. They live on different continents and have an ocean between them. After not seeing each other for ten months, Sean receives a phone call from one of Cassie's older brothers. Cassie has been kidnapped. Cassie's family, the Devlyns, are wealthy and are not always on the right side of the law in their business dealings. Cassie has been tormented and abused by her brothers since she was a small child. Her father did nothing to curb the boys' cruelty. Their brutality made it difficult for her to have a close relationship with the opposite sex. Hence, the physical distance between Cassie and her husband.
Now the results of her family's double dealing and her estrangement from her husband have put her life in jeopardy. Sean has had enough and has come to rescue his wife. After Cassie is released from her abductors, Sean plans on taking her far away from her family, so they can never hurt her again. Well made plans don't always turn out the way one expects. The kidnapper reveals to Cassie that her family has double crossed too many dangerous people and she has become the target of their revenge. Having a house blow up over their heads seals the message. Sean and Cassie are now on the run and hiding from more than her family.
Welcome To The Family by Nancy S. Reece is an intriguing suspense thriller novel. The first paragraph captured my attention at once. Curious about Cassie's outcome, I had to finish reading the book. Sean is an enigmatic man and his job is cloaked in secrecy, giving his character an aura of glamour. Cassie has some serious issues and is quite neurotic, due to the brutality of her psychotic brother. Together the two forge a loving relationship, despite the extreme circumstances that they are forced into. I recommend this book to those who love a good suspense story. Due to the nature of the sex scenes, this book is suitable for a more mature reader. A good story with a good plot.
