We Journey No More by Sahara Foley opens in the desert in the United States Southwest near Albuquerque, where we meet main characters Donald Giroux and Janet Bartinski. They are young runaways from Kansas who are on the way to California where Don has an interview for his dream job as a software game developer. Having driven all day, the teenagers pull off the road for the night to get some sleep before continuing to Anaheim. When they awaken, the world and their lives will change forever. The teens find themselves in a world that they do not recognize where the topography has changed and even the skies are not recognizable. Don thinks he must be in a dream as he and Janet meet hideous creatures and a band of people who believe Don is the fulfillment of an ancient prophecy. Janet more accurately believes that they have been mysteriously transported to an Earth far in the future.

In We Journey No More, Sahara Foley has created a great story that will appeal to those readers interested in a realistic fantasy. The customs of the tribe they join are interesting and the history of the tribe is well developed. While I would have liked to see additional character development, We Journey No More is a good read with an interesting plot. The end of the book had me cheering for Don and Janet. Would love to see a sequel to this book...and perhaps a prequel that further defines the events that led to this book. A fun book and quick read. Read it!

We Journey No More by Sahara Foley finds youngsters Don and Janet apprehended on their way by Dal, the lizard riding Guard, who decides to take them to the high priest. Don realizes that they have adventures of the highest order forthcoming when he starts observing that “they’re going to have to wipe out the human population, because we don’t give up easy.” Don and Janet get drawn into this fight and realize to their dismay that “they started exterminating the human camps with the endless Holy Wars between the smaller camps and they are as insidious as they’re hideous.” Don and Janet have to think of new strategies to counter the threats posed to human civilization and come out victorious in the end.

We Journey No More by Sahara Foley is a story with intrigue at every turn as well as a looming atmosphere of adventure. The bulwarks of the new society or culture confronting Don and Janet, like getting halved in place of getting married, are presented with imagination. However, the fact that the story is taking place a thousand years from now could have been shown intuitively by an appropriate ambiance, catapulting this tale to greater heights. This is a very good read, with all the characters and events reflecting a high degree of ingenuity and clever manipulation.
