Two children and a squirrel discover that with a little effort and ingenuity, they can make fascinating discoveries in the children’s educational short story, The Secret of the Smelly Trail: Malaysia by Sumita Mukherjee. Keiko and her ornery younger brother Kenzo enjoy exploring nature, experiencing new things, and learning exciting new facts about life. One afternoon while reading a book upstairs in her room, Keiko heard a loud thud coming from downstairs. While investigating the noise, Keiko discovered the source of the sound. The loud noise was coming from her father’s laboratory, where she found Kenzo and their father playing with his newest invention. Father suggests that they try his contraption outside in the Sarawak Forest of Malaysia. Will the device help them get closer to nature? Or will it push them further from it?
Explore the beautiful and diverse Sarawak Forest in the beautifully illustrated children's story, The Secret of the Smelly Trail: Malaysia by Sumita Mukherjee. Keiko and Kenzo love exploring nature with the latest and greatest tools. This summer vacation their father has flown them to their grandparents’ house in Malaysia, where they encounter many different types of wild exotic animals and plants. Mr. Kimura, Keiko and Kenzo’s father, has designed a unique, high-tech device that helps his children discover even more information about the forest and her secrets. If only he can address all the technical issues that arise... This book was an educational delight to read; I thoroughly enjoyed this story since it piqued my interest throughout the entire book. I would recommend this book to children three to six years old.
