Life in the beautiful, peaceful country of Hasan Daeg is about to change after 600 years, but why does it have to be on Princess Maura’s 18th birthday? In the five-book series, The Princess Maura Tales, by Abigail Keam, Maura is forced to grow up quickly and take responsibility for her kingdom, help their age-old human/bird overlords, the Dinii, and overthrow the warrior Bhuttanians who come to claim her throne as well as traitors among her own nobles.
In Book 1, Wall of Doom, Maura is taken from her family as a young child to be raised by the Dinii to learn how to fight. Overseen by an ancient race, the Lahorians, Maura is acknowledged as the future salvation of the entire planet of Kaseri. In The Wall of Peril, Book 2, Maura gives into Dorak’s demands and marries him, surprised that she actually has come to love the conquering Bhuttanian Aga (leader). Escape is her only option, though, and in Wall of Glory, Book 3, Maura tries to fulfill her destiny to join with the Mother Bogazkoy, a special plant that gives Hasan Daegian queens their power. Only after this ritual will Maura be capable of defeating the evil wizard, Zedek, and taking control of the armies. Book 4, Wall of Conquest, follows Maura as she moves on to the city of Bhuttani to claim the throne as Empress. Wall of Victory, Book 5, is the culmination of all Maura’s hopes and dreams, but is true victory guaranteed with so many different cultures fighting for so long?
Abigail Keam masterfully creates a world of unique characters, intense politics and diverse social standards where past and present collide. The action ebbs and flows with deep undercurrents of emotions, leaving you wondering whom Maura can trust. Realistic dialogue and great character development keep the plot moving so you anxiously turn the pages to see how everything will work out. The Princess Maura Tales series is exciting with magic, mystery, surprise twists, love and hate, not to mention a tremendous scope and setting. Wonderful stories, strongly portrayed with great characters. All in all, great writing!
