In this adorable story about showing kindness to others, the Isle of Mer is home to a group of Merzzlings: small furry creatures who happen to be very mischievous. Noah, a young boy in the human world who has been mean to his classmates and others around him, is brought to the Isle of Mer and taught by the Merzzlings how to love and be kind to those around him. Although Noah does not see his problem at first, he soon realizes that he does need to do a better job of being nice to the people who are close to him. The Merzzlings: The Adventure Begins by Brittany Plumeri and Johanna Zverzina is a cute yet educational story about The Golden Rule.
As an adult, I absolutely loved this story and the message it portrayed. It was a super fun read that packed in an important lesson about doing unto others as you would have them do unto you. The illustrations by Johanna Zverzina are gorgeous and captivating, and I really enjoyed looking at all of the bright colors splashed out on each page. The message from Brittany Plumeri was developed in a great way, and the interactions between Noah and the Merzzlings were fun to read. I think that every child should be read and taught this story, as it really teaches a great lesson! The Merzzlings: The Adventure Begins is a lovely story full of beautiful illustrations and a great theme that children should learn.
