The Little Lies is the first book by Marie F. Crow in the urban fantasy series, The Great Hexpectations. Harper Buckland is considered an oddball by most of the inhabitants of her town. Born with the ability to interact with the dead, Harper finds herself constantly sought by people who have recently lost their loved ones to find closure. However, when a young waitress named Bella seeks Harper's help regarding her deceased sister's missing corpse, Harper finds herself embroiled in a much larger affair involving a powerful werewolf family, rogue witches with ancient magic, and a devilishly charming demon named Jedrek. As she comes to terms with her own dormant powers, Harper must find a way to dig up the secrets while protecting her own from dangerous paranormal threats.
If you're itching for a wildly entertaining urban fantasy tale involving scheming witches, haughty werewolves, and seductive demons, grab yourself a copy of The Little Lies. Filled with suspense, mystery, and action, the plot keeps you on edge every step of the way. Author Marie F. Crow weaves a fascinating tale full of supernatural beings that tickle your imagination in the best possible way. The characters are well-developed, with distinct personalities that pop out of the page. Harper is an instantly likable protagonist, and her gradual progress throughout the book both as a person and a witch drives the narrative. I particularly enjoyed her dynamic with Jedrek. Anyone who enjoys urban fantasy stories featuring witches, werewolves, and demons will find The Little Lies a worthwhile investment.
