The Infernal Games (The Baku Trilogy Book 1) by Reed Logan Westgate follows Xlina, a young woman with some unusual abilities. She is the daughter of a Druid and has some demon ancestry on her mother's side which makes her a Baku. A Baku can eat dreams, but her Druid side allows her to harness this energy and use it. When she uses it against a werewolf, she draws the wrong kind of attention. Now demons are after her and Valeria is sent to look after her. As a succubus, she isn't from Earth and isn't exactly happy with her assignment but she follows orders. Soon Xlina finds herself caught up in a deadly game that could cost her soul. She will have to make a choice if she is going to save herself, but will it be enough?
Reed Logan Westgate has written an entertaining book with The Infernal Games (The Baku Trilogy Book 1). I liked the protagonist and she definitely had an unusual power that you don't see in other paranormal books. The story moved at a good pace and I kept reading because I enjoyed the different supernatural elements involved. Xlina has a weird upbringing and an even weirder lineage. She is thrown into more craziness and it really tests her and her abilities. But she is tough and knows that no one else is going to save her but herself. I think it would appeal to urban fantasy and paranormal fantasy fans. I would definitely recommend it and read more in the series.
