In The Fox’s Palace by Tuula Pere, Francis is a cunning fox who leaves home and settles in the city. His life in the city is a lie; he sends fake pictures to his mother, who, despite wanting to believe her son, knows his unscrupulous nature. In the city, Francis dreams of becoming mayor but loses the election to William the Wolf. In pursuit of his other dream of building a palace, he becomes an assistant to Barry the Badger in his boat rental business. Barry is very kind and hopes Francis can take over the business in the future. To Barry's surprise, Francis tricks him and takes over the ownership of the property with plans to overhaul everything. How will William the Wolf, who is wise, handle the issue?
The Fox’s Palace by Tuula Pere is wonderfully written with an incredible message that will encourage children's good behavior. I loved that the theme covered the importance of hard work and the message of how crime does not pay. This thought-provoking work also got me thinking about the importance of having ethical leaders who take care of the interests of the electorate as we see through the character of William. The book is illustrated by Andrea Alemanno, whose images are captivating. They not only capture the imagination of the reader but also add to the overall beauty of this amazing work. Tuula also ensured the language used was easy to understand, making the work accessible to all kinds of readers. This was a great read, and I look forward to reading something else by Tuula.
