Meg Canon is home in Marietta, Montana, to clean out her childhood bedroom. Her brother and his family need the room so Meg is finally on her own again, without a plan B. Linc Brady is a Texas transplant who stops to help Meg dig her car out of a ditch ... and promptly propositions her. Even though their initial meeting isn’t the stuff of romance, it is hilarious and sets the tone for everything else that happens between them. In The Bachelor’s Baby by Dani Collins, Meg bids on the sexy Linc, but he turns it into a competition and hurts her feelings in the process. Dani Collins does a great job showing us Meg’s sensitivity to rejection after being given up for adoption as a child. When Linc unknowingly rejects her during the auction, he brings those feelings back to the surface. But those hurt feelings are nothing in the face of the attraction sizzling between these two.
The Bachelor’s Baby is a story of getting the things you need instead of the things you think you need. After one night together, both Meg and Linc’s lives are forever changed. But Meg wants someone to love her for real, and Linc is pretty sure he’ll never be the guy. Though they never speak of it, the idea is also simmering below the surface between them. Dani Collins has written a beautiful story that really is full of emotion. Meg’s feelings of rejection come so strongly off the page you really feel for her and understand her need to find real love. It’s amazing to watch this love story unfold in the small town of Marietta.
