When thoughts are expressed either orally or in written form, they convey a variety of messages to the reader. If you are seeking simple yet powerful words of comfort, peace, inspiration and mindfulness, then Small Stones from the River: Meditations and Micropoems by Kat Lehmann is a great choice. This collection of over 180 poems of approximately 162 characters each is so power-packed that more words aren't necessary to get the message across in a way that will leave the reader satisfied. In this poem Kat helps us to get in touch with our surroundings: “...in other breaking news a silver moon sailed above the world and the only ones who knew it were the ones who looked up.” Kat created this body of work over several years along with hundreds of other poems and written work throughout the years. If you want to explore more of these "small stones," pick up a copy today.
I enjoyed these small stones of meditation and mindfulness because they created a calming and peaceful approach to the words. Kat used the backdrop of water to draw us into her world of tranquility. As I read the poems, I was able to become one with some of the work. Poetry is a great way of expressing beauty, sadness and art. Poetry is not only transformative, it exudes healing powers. “The unknown creates an opportunity for us to be hopeful and have faith. When we stretch into the unknown, we open ourselves to possibility,” says Kat. What possibilities are you allowing yourself to embrace and explore through what you're reading?
