Sirens Unbound (Book One of the Fifth Mage War Series) by Laura Engelhardt would appeal most to a supernatural fiction-loving audience of young adults and adults. Cordelia, Thomas, Amy, and Mary Bant are four siblings that are about to have their worlds turned upside down when Dr. Amy Bant creates a neurosurgical procedure that allows mundanes to see magic. What Amy thought was going to be brain surgery that would prove she was not just a one-hit-wonder in her field turns out to be the spark that will set off the next mage war. Are you ready to follow the Bant siblings as they encounter sirens, fae, prophecies, and magic?
Sirens Unbound by Laura Engelhardt has a very intriguing cover image. The aquatic background drew my attention as I greatly enjoy reading about aquatic supernatural creatures. Cordelia Bant’s secret siren heritage quickly made her my favorite character, but it was her life purpose of sustaining the life of the Fae which truly interested me. This audiobook has quickly surpassed my previous supernatural fiction favorites with its uniqueness in terms of characters, creatures, and magic; I simply cannot wait for the next book in the series!
The narrator of this audiobook was Brandy Hussa. Ms. Hussa’s most notable voice performances include the narration of both of Laura Engelhardt’s audiobooks. Her passion for voice acting radiated clearly in this rendition because she did not just read the audiobook, but rather performed it for the audience. I loved the way I could hear the different characters' voices and created a picture of each character in my head as they were narrated for me.
