A whimsical and delightful story with practical lessons for all readers, Rowan and the Road to Yet! A Growth Mindset Fairy Tale by Courtney Gonzales follows the story of a girl who learns how to overcome doubt and celebrate the steps she experiences before achieving her goals. As she looks at her brother swimming across the pool, Rowan feels disappointed and discouraged. She is upset at the little progress she has made. Though her mother tries to encourage her by pointing out how far she has come, Rowan continues to complain. That night, an amazing thing happens to her. Rowan finds herself in Yet, a distant land whose gold has been stolen and is now guarded by a fierce dragon. Only Rowan can retrieve it. With a fairy as her guide, Rowan learns to acknowledge each step of her journey and deal with negativity.
Rowan and the Road to Yet! by Courtney Gonzales is a lovely tale told through a main character who faces familiar struggles. I loved the story’s fantasy elements and appreciated the colorful backgrounds and illustrations in the book. The story is filled with many surprises that readers will find exciting. Many useful lessons can be gleaned from the story and can be applied in handling everyday challenges. Young readers will be inspired by Rowan’s courage and determination and will learn to celebrate their big wins as well as their smaller steps. A wonderful story told through captivating illustrations, the book is packed with helpful lessons. Readers will love Rowan’s adventures.
