Rogue's Holiday is the 5th book in the Agents of the Crown series by Regan Walker. Set in the Regency era, the story follows a newly anointed baron and a local beauty as they discover that love can be found in the most unique places. Robert (Robbie) Powell put his life on the line to save the Cabinet ministers from conspirators, so to reward him King George IV grants him a baronetcy. Part of his reward includes a holiday at the Royal Pavilion in Brighton. There he meets Miss Chastity Reynolds whom he is asked to watch over. He wasn’t expecting her to be this pretty or this difficult to woo. All he thought of was relaxing a bit, enjoying his time in Brighton and trying to gain the attention of Chastity, but some people want him dead and he has inadvertently brought them to Chastity. Now he has to look for a way to stay alive and keep Chastity safe while making sure that she doesn’t gouge his eyes out.
Entertaining, exceptionally well-developed and the perfect Regency romance, this novel had me riveted. The chemistry between Chastity and Robbie is off the charts; they just click and they stand out. The banter they had was hilarious and the dialogues were real gems. Chastity’s comebacks were so witty and funny. The plot was great, the action was alive, the growth of the protagonists was palpable. I enjoyed the narrative the most; it had its own personality which made the reading experience even more enjoyable. The author has flair, a way with words that just elevates everything. The descriptions were vivid; the story was entertaining and refreshing, and the protagonists were relatable. To say that I loved it would be an understatement.
