Before you read Resist (The Resistance Series Book 2) by Tracy Lawson, you should definitely read the first book in the series (Counteract) to understand what is happening because book 2 continues right where book 1 left you. Tommy and Careen are now fully part of the resistance movement, and while Tommy stays more in the background, Careen becomes the face of the resistance (kind of reminded me of Katniss from The Hunger Games, who also turned into the face of a rebellion). With the new-found fame there also comes more danger, and Careen is wanted by the government. Tommy also isn't quite happy about how things are going, and he is not the only one within the resistance who would like to solve problems his own way. While the resistance continues fighting against the government agency that wants to drug the whole country into obedience, the resistance also has to deal with internal power struggles.
I also reviewed book 1 in the Resistance series and have to say that Resist by Tracy Lawson is even better. You know the characters and you already have some sort of connection to them. Book 2 takes you right back into the middle of the action, and I enjoyed every single page of it. I enjoyed the progression of the plot, and also that the content of the plot was a bit gritty - not everything is nice and rosy for the couple, and not everyone follows the same agenda. There are plenty of conflicts and questionable decisions by the main characters. I like it that Careen isn't flawless and perfect. The Resistance Series turned out to be rather intriguing and I am looking forward to the next book because there is quite an immense cliffhanger at the end!
