In Chasing Czars: Book 3 of The Chasing Cleopatra Chronicles, Tina Sloan transports readers to the snow-covered slopes of St. Moritz, where Cleo Gallier, her father Didier, and daughter Zellie enjoy a memorable ski trip. While reconnecting with old friends and acquaintances, Cleo meets Sergei, with whom she feels an immediate attraction. Just as she begins to embrace this budding connection, her father reveals that Jake, her ex and Zellie’s father, is staying at the same hotel. Jake has always dreamed of visiting St. Moritz, and when an opportunity for a holiday arises, he eagerly accepts it, unaware of the surprise awaiting him. On his first run down the Corviglia course, an odd encounter with a stranger unsettles him. Following the unexpected reunion with Cleo, a series of mysterious incidents prompts Jake to reach out to his father, Tripp. When Didier, Sergei, and Tripp meet, they discover shared political and personal histories that suggest the past is not entirely behind them. One of their former lives may hold the key to the looming threat that has quietly followed them to St. Moritz.
In Chasing Czars, Tina Sloan's choice of St. Moritz, synonymous with wealth, elegance, and luxury, provides an ideal backdrop for romance and intrigue. The opulence of the setting contrasts perfectly with the secrets and lurking danger, reminding readers that even the most beautiful places can conceal the darkest truths. I enjoyed the hints of espionage and covert missions, along with history involving entanglements and alliances, layers that add depth and tension to the narrative. The plot unfolds slowly and deliberately, allowing the reader to gradually discover more about each character, revealing the complex relationships that bind them together. I highly recommend this book to readers who enjoy glamorous, character-driven thrillers with a touch of romance and international intrigue.
