Jared wants them to bond with other dragons from Scarlet’s family to gain superpowers too. They live in a secret location, but when a city discovers them, they have to abandon their new home and escape through underground tunnels and caves. Will they be able to escape unharmed and find another place to live? Will more dragons join the fight against the cities? And can Jared find a way to turn the advanced technology and weaponry against their enemy?

Well written, Richard Hummel’s Radioactive Revolution delivers an exciting tale of adventure and heroism in a post-apocalyptic setting. Inspired by RPG (role-playing games), the storyline is well developed, at times very thrilling with a riveting pace. The characters have depth and credibility. This is especially true for the protagonist, Jared, who is constantly trying to improve himself and protect others, even at his own cost. He is a true hero who leads by example and cares for everyone under his protection. This book does not have a conclusion, revealing that there is more action to come and leaving important questions unanswered. However, its ending is very intriguing.

Living in a radioactive apocalyptic version of the world he once knew, Jared must learn to lead and guide his people to safety while dealing with many dangers. Can Jared and his dragon companion Scarlet overcome the obstacles thrown in their way during their adventure for safety and justice? Radioactive Revolution: A Dystopian, Post-Apocalyptic Adventure by Richard I Hummel is book two of the series. The story scenes and characters are very descriptively created throughout the book, making a reader keen for more information. For example, the world is in a state of destruction after the war and there are many abandoned places throughout the story that piqued my curiosity and interest. Not to mention the fact that there are floating cities, dragons, and other mutated creatures due to the radioactive war.

The challenges the main character is faced with and how he responds are well thought through, along with the dialog between other characters. The author’s research into various aspects of human nature definitely shows throughout the entirety of the book. With its enticing scenes, intriguing characters, and plot twists, Radioactive Revolution is a great read for all sci-fi, dystopian and adventure lovers. Although not having read the first book in this series, I will say the second can be read alone, although it would probably be better to gain more knowledge of the plot and characters by reading the first book, Radioactive Evolution, beforehand. I anticipate a third book for future reading enjoyment.
