Political Craps by Thomas Ufert is a call to action for US citizens to protect freedom and become informed participant in the political process. This detailed book examines the history of politics in a way that is easy to understand and shows that the shenanigans of politicians originated in the early history of our nation. The lack of compromise between parties is having dire effects on our country. Coupled with economic stagnation and a polarized and dysfunctional political system, we deserve real leaders with doable solutions. In order to present a non-biased argument, Ufert chronicles his own experiences as a 30-year political activist, public servant and poli-science graduate. He also worked on eleven campaigns and witnessed character assassinations, transformations by professional image handlers, general stupidity and the power of affluence. Ufert’s lengthy professional resume gives him a clear view of what effective government requires.
Current events dictate that something has to change for the better soon, or this country may not be able to survive. Ufert’s goal is one of civic motivation, but his opinions are at times a bit harsh. All Americans desire leaders who are fiscally responsible and provide a strong defense, so hear his rallying cry. This book does not endeavor to solve complex social issues; it merely points out that the status quo must change before deficits destroy whatever credibility remains. Political Craps by Thomas Ufert is a great primer for anyone with limited knowledge about US politics and does inspire the reader to become an active participant in the political process to protect freedom.
