Author Ged Ruggles shares a fascinating tale in Pine Valley. Jeff, the main character, dumped his girlfriend and told her he was gay. She doesn’t believe him and proceeds to try to prove him wrong. Yet, Jeff meets a very sexy man and begins to explore his sexual preferences. The two develop a romantic relationship, but is there more to this new romantic partner in Jeff’s life than meets the eye? Kent’s father is the highest-ranking council member of Pine Valley, the most prestigious place to golf in the country. Is his father up to something? Will Kent’s involvement in this affect his love affair with Jeff? On top of that, neither Jeff nor Kent have told their families about their homosexuality. Keeping such an important part of their life secret can cause a lot of personal stress and a strain on the relationship, but these two lovers have even bigger issues to face.
Pine Valley had a good storyline even though at times I felt confused about just what was going on. Throughout the story I had to settle in and really focus to figure out what was happening. However, Ged Ruggles’s adept ability to write a mysterious and romantic tale maintained my interest. I was compelled to turn the page and discover what was about to happen next, as well as finding out just what some of the more secretive characters were up to. The love scenes in Pine Valley are sexy and sweet at the same time. Ultimately, I found the love story within Pine Valley to be sexy, heartwarming and filled with suspense until the very end.
