Peyton’s Price by Lucy Leroux is a stunning novel full of suspense, conspiracy, and love. Peyton Carson has finally graduated with her Ph.D. and can consider herself a master programmer. When a friend offers her a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to move to California for her dream job, she’s hesitant. That is, until the only man she has ever loved, Liam Tyler, announces his engagement to another woman. She leaves her life and friends behind in Boston, only to have it thrust back upon her when her very life is threatened across the world. Liam comes to her rescue but through another man – Mattias Raske. However, when he still refuses to acknowledge the emotions that have been lying between them, Peyton flees back to the arms of Mattias who promises to give her nearly anything and everything she could want. Yet, even here, trouble seems to find her. Will Peyton be able to escape the clutches of evil a second time? Will she be able to find love?
After completing Peyton’s Price, I was at a loss for words. The author proved to be quite masterful at creating imagery and evoking reactions. I could feel many of Peyton’s (and other characters') emotions from her fear to her ardent love. At moments, my heart ached for and with her. At others, it soared with happiness. Lucy Leroux also showed how to skillfully craft a story, revealing just enough information, and leaving the reader wanting more. Sometimes I was sure I knew the direction of the story, only to be completely wrong. I certainly didn’t expect some of the twists that occurred. I have to applaud this book and would recommend it to others who enjoy this genre.
