Risky Roo the Kangaroo wished he was not so clumsy. He was sitting on the front steps and his friend Hayden came and sat next to him. Risky Roo showed him the scrape on his knee and Hayden told him that his dad could help as he worked as a safety officer His job was to teach others how to avoid harm. Hayden took Risky Roo to his dad's office and his dad put on a band-aid and asked Hayden to teach Risky Roo the safety pledge. Hayden's dad also reminded him to wear the safety gear. Hayden was excited as he wore his yellow vest and his silver badge. The silver badge was a magical one that warned of possible danger with a bright red flash. It warned Hayden and Risky a couple of times about danger. Let's read the story to learn how to stay safe.
Not So Risky Roo: A Home Safety Guide by Robert A. Sutton is an educational and informative storybook that tells young readers how to take care of themselves and stay safe. The illustrations give clarity to the concept and the important safety tips will help save them from life-altering injuries. The author's experience as a safety professional and a dad helps readers connect better with the story and the safety tips. This also helps to create a good interaction between a parent and a child when it comes to telling them how to remain safe while indoors and outdoors. The book is good to have at home and in school libraries as it can be read many times and when the need arises. The Safety Pledge at the end of the book is a good reminder to kids of how they should take care of themselves when they are indoors as well as outdoors.
