Her debut novel, No Romance Allowed, was published in September 2019, and it received two awards as Finalist in the 2020 International Book Awards and Reader’s Favorite Awards. Also, 1st place in the Romance category for the 2020 TCK Publishing Readers' Choice Awards Contest.

No Secrets Allowed by Kana Wu is a sweet romance novel involving two main characters from vastly different backgrounds. Based in Boston, Aurorette “Rory” Arrington maintains a long-distance relationship with her British boyfriend, Peter, who is based in California. When the company she works for sends her team to California, Rory is ecstatic. Meanwhile, Peter is struggling with the demands of his family’s business. In addition, his performance is under close scrutiny from other members of his family, piling more pressure on him. Their involvement, however, is not limited to his work life. He has to meet their expectations in his personal life. Despite their resolve to be together, Peter and Rory’s relationship is marred by family interference and shocking secrets that could tear them apart.
No Secrets Allowed is an easy read. I loved that it combines fun themes and dialogue with heavier topics such as the friendship between Rory and her college friend that could turn into something more and interactions between Rory and Peter which are entertaining. Family feuds and rivalry are heavier themes explored in the novel. Despite his flaws, Peter is considerate and hopes to be a better partner to Rory than his father was to his mother. Other protagonists such as Rory and Tom are down-to-earth and good-natured. The story’s pace is pleasant, exploring each scene before moving on to the next. It also contains other interesting sub-plots within the novel such as Rory’s family history and the main characters’ family and career lives. No Secrets Allowed by Kana Wu is a lovely romance novel with a captivating storyline.
