In Neworld Papers: The Warriors' Tale (Volume 2) by KB Shaw, Fallon is this generation's Indiana Jones, but with more whimsical twists and turns in his adventures than ever before. Our hero and his friends will journey throughout Neworld, but Fallon has reached a dilemma. He has weapons hidden away. Revealing them could mean salvation. Or, just as equally, it could mean destruction.
I feel I missed a lot while reading this coming of age tale of heroism and adventure because I never read the first book. This Neworld novel, however, has definitely piqued my interest and I will need to go back to the first novel for more of Fallon. And that's also one of Shaw's strengths: the ability to develop a character that readers of all ages can admire and root for. The literary world is flooded with teen girls leading the fight. And that's perfectly fine, but a male lead is a nice change of pace that we need more often.
Shaw has such skill in character creation that even jumping into the series at book two, I knew enough about Fallon to connect with him and accept him, flaws and all. There are very few cases where this has happened for me before and the last time was while reading a James Patterson bestseller! I believe that if I go back, I'll find this series is a future bestseller in disguise that children, teens, and adults will devour eagerly. Even if it's not your usual genre, I recommend taking a chance. I think you may be pleasantly surprised.
