Neverland Academy by Daelynn Quinn is the story of Daphne, whose parents move to a rather 'boring' area because Daphne is not exactly developing in the right direction and her parents want her to be far away from bad influences (i.e. her goth friends and her new rocker boyfriend). While her brothers are sent to nearby Neverland Academy, Daphne receives extra attention from her parents which she is not happy about. When she gets grounded because she borrowed her mum's BMW to see her boyfriend's gig (and discover his new girlfriend), Finn - one of the outcasts of Neverland Academy - turns up to invite her to join him and his crew. The boys live in the slave tunnels under the academy, and Finn is kind of their leader. He has an agenda against the headmaster. He calls him Pervpot and wants to bring him down. How far will Daphne go to help him? Is Finn only interested in her hacking skills?
Neverland Academy by Daelynn Quinn is a novel aimed at young adults, and clearly speaks to the more rebellious teenagers. While I find Daphne's behavior in parts really bad, I enjoyed the story and how the characters developed. Daphne learns many things during her time under the academy (and it makes her a better person, I think). The plot is very well developed, and once you start the book it's quite hard to put it down again because "just one more chapter" doesn't really do it. You simply want to know whether Pervpot gets what he deserves or whether he turns out to be too powerful for a handful of kids.
