In Mom Wears Many Hats, NJ Trudie and Tabassum Hashmi remind us that moms are very resilient and do a great deal for us. Moms prepare meals, drive us to school and activities, help us with homework, take care of us when we’re sick, cut our hair, fix things, clean things and the list goes on. Moms even play with us. There’s a special metaphorical hat that Mom wears for each task she performs. The best thing is that moms do these tasks with love. It’s a good thing we have Mom there to keep things going and perform all these wonderful, loving deeds.
NJ Trudie and Tabassum Hashmi’s picture book, Mom Wears Many Hats, is an endearing story about the many marvelous things moms achieve. Told in simple language so young readers can follow easily, and accompanied by bright, bold, and colorful illustrations, the plot follows the weekly routine of a typical busy mom. Morning and night, there’s something special and important that moms do for their families. The story introduces the many roles of motherhood as well as teaches young readers simple things like the days of the week and the importance of love and responsibility. At the end of the book, there is an interactive page where young readers can share some of the special things their moms do. I love the analogy of the hat for every chore as it certainly makes every task Mom undertakes something significant and it’s an easy analogy for young readers to grasp. Well done!
