Lucky Puppy Finds Two Families is a children's book by Vida Gecas, reflecting her experiences with her dog in Conakry, Guinea. Lucky is privileged to visit the seaport and his friend, a dog named Rex, but he longs to find a family and a good home. After a near accident on the road, he's nursed back to health and a woman takes him home. Lucky is happy with the woman, but he's concerned when she brings him to work with her at the embassy. During the day, Lucky helps a marine security guard, the facilities maintenance officer, the Deputy Chief of Mission, and a medical officer. Lucky finishes his workday as he marches with the Assistant Regional Security Officer. Lucky is a little nervous when the man tells him the people at the embassy are his family, but he soon learns the embassy and his human mommy make up his two families.
Vida Gecas tells the story from Lucky's perspective, and his reactions will capture your heart! This sweet puppy hopes for a family, and everyone he meets embraces him. At the end of the story, Gecas explains each of the embassy jobs Lucky experienced and supplies interesting facts about Guinea, including the common languages, temperature, and location. Toddlers and older children will enjoy Lucky's story as they learn about the hardships he faced before Gecas found him and the happy new life he experienced under her care. Caregivers could read the book before they discuss pets or embassy-related jobs. Gecas expresses the love she has for Lucky and the happiness he brings to everyone he meets in Lucky Puppy Finds Two Families.
